Team Android, This One’s for You

If you’ve been using Zero on Android for a while, thank you for sticking with us.

We know it hasn’t always been easy. iOS got features first, and some features never made it to Android at all. The app didn’t always feel like it was built with the same care. That wasn’t fair to you, and we own that. We simply didn’t have the resources to keep both platforms in sync.

That changes now.

When we launched the new Zero Plus in January, we were excited to bring all the new features to both iOS and Android simultaneously. On Android, it was an even bigger leap — we brought the app to feature parity with iOS, which meant a lot changed all at once.

For many of you, it’s been a welcome and long-overdue update. But we’ve heard from a few of you that all the changes felt a bit jarring. The app looks different. Features moved. Things you were used to suddenly worked differently. We could have done a better job proactively communicating what was changing and why. Going forward, we’ll be sharing more regular updates like this one so you always know what’s new and what’s coming.

Here’s what the new Zero Plus means for Android, and where we’re headed next.

What’s New for Android

The Full Zero Plus Experience

Everything we announced in January is now live on Android:

  • AI-Powered Meal Tracking: Snap a photo or type a description, and Zero analyzes your meal for protein, calories, and key nutrients. No searching, no scrolling.
  • The Protein Score: Your personalized daily metric that tracks not just how much protein you’re getting, but how efficiently you’re getting it.
  • Hydration Tracking: A personalized daily water goal with simple one-tap logging.
  • Smarter AI: Better portion recognition, faster responses, and the ability to understand context like “skipped the fries” when you log an image.
  • Better Quick Picks: Your most recent and frequently logged meals now appear right at your fingertips.
  • Custom Water Entry: Tap to enter any amount rather than being limited to presets.

Android-Specific Improvements

We’ve also shipped updates specifically to bring the Android experience up to par:

  • Full Calendar View: Access your complete fasting history in the Me tab — a feature that was previously iOS-only.
  • Updated Design: The app now matches the iOS look and feel, including updated fonts and visual polish.
  • Bug Fixes: Resolved issues with notifications not enabling properly and calendar display problems.

Coming Soon

We’re not slowing down. In the coming weeks, Android users will get:

  • Barcode Scanning: Instantly log packaged foods without needing the AI.
  • Meal Bookmarks: Save your favorite meals for one-tap re-logging.
  • Enhanced Ring Experience: A significantly improved way to track your daily progress, based on your feedback about the recent Pillars/Rings changes.
  • Mindful Minutes, Sleep & Mood Editing: More control over the data you’re tracking.
  • Health Connect Migration: We’re working on moving from Google Fit to Health Connect for better integration with Android’s health ecosystem. More details coming soon.

Our Commitment Going Forward

We can’t promise that every feature will ship on both platforms on the exact same day — iOS and Android are different ecosystems with different requirements. But our intention is clear: major features will launch on both platforms, and we’re committed to keeping Android in parity with iOS. That goes for both our free and Plus experiences.

That said, the bulk of our investment is in Zero Plus because it’s the fullest expression of what we believe a metabolic health tool should be. If you’ve been curious about upgrading, there’s never been a better time. Android users now get the same powerful features that iOS users have had, and we’re just getting started.
